Tobacco Authority of Thailand (TOAT), the manufacturer and distributor of tobacco products in Thailand, strives for excellence in customer satisfaction by continuously improving our products and processes as well as fulfilling customers’ varied requirements. In fiscal year 2020, JT International SA (JTI), an international manufacturer of tobacco products headquartered in Geneva Switzerland, with its products sold in 130 countries worldwide, had an interest in purchasing Thai Burley tobacco leaf from TOAT.

Upon procurement process, JTI requested for product inspections which were done onsite and by sending leaf samples to JTI’s quality assurance laboratories in three different destinations, namely the Federation of Malaysia, the Federal Republic of Germany and Japan. The purchase of 498,960 kg. of Burley tobacco leaf was made consequently after the leaf samples passed all certain quality standards. In February 2021, TOAT exported 231,660 kg of Thai Burley tobacco leaf to the Republic of the Philippines and 267,300 kg to the Kingdom of Belgium in May 2021.

In this regard, TOAT would like to thank JTI for trusting in the quality of our tobacco leaf, which is not only promoting TOAT as a center of high quality tobacco leaf for global market, It also helps support Thai tobacco farmers who have been affected by the reduction of tobacco purchases from TOAT since the 2019/2020 seasonal production.
